Spice Description :
- Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) Nutmeg provides a savory taste and distinctive aroma that is often mixed into soup dishes, sauces, desserts and drinks. The provinces of North Maluku, Aceh, and North Sulawesi are known as the main areas producing nutmeg in Indonesia.
- Black pepper (Piper nigrum) Black pepper comes from dried pepper fruit. This spice gives a spicy taste to dishes. Lampung and Bangka Belitung are known as the largest pepper producing areas in Indonesia.
- Candlenut (Aleurites moluccanus) Candlenut seeds are widely used to add aroma and savory taste to dishes. Candlenut plants grow easily in tropical climates. North Sumatra, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, Java, Bali, and the Nusa Tenggara region are areas producing this spice.
- Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) Cinnamon is taken from the bark of the cinnamon tree. As the name suggests, this spice provides a sweet taste and distinctive aroma. This makes it widely used in desserts and drinks. West Sumatra and Jambi are known as cinnamon producers in Indonesia.
- Turmeric (Curcuma longa) Turmeric or kunir is part of the rhizome of the turmeric plant. This rhizome gives an orange-yellow color and an ‘earthy’ taste to cooking. In addition, turmeric is also known as a spice plant with medicinal properties. Turmeric is widely produced in East Java and West Java.
- Ginger (Zingiber officinale) The rhizome of the ginger plant is used as a spice and raw material for traditional medicine. Ginger provides a spicy and warm sensation. West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, and several provinces in Sumatra are included in the national ginger producing areas.
